Gender identity, sexuality, the right to love who you love, to marry and procreate, even the right to manifest in the body you were meant to have instead of the body you were born with… These rights have been heavily negotiated, at a high cost to the pioneers for LGBTQ rights, and with many freedoms yet to be secured.

The films are organized by the decade the film begins in (as opposed to the decade the film was made) starting in the 1900s until present day. Some films span multiple decades, and we will upgrade these time designations as the website evolves.
