The LGBTQ+ liberation movement was started by a black trans woman named Marsha P. Johnson. Ever since the Stonewall riots, where countless queers were beaten and jailed, LGBTQ+ activism has colorfully and loudly pushed forward. Today, the LGBTQ+ community constructively challenges societal notions of womanhood, gender, and sexuality. With pride in our hearts and liberation in our sights, we value our sisters who fight to be themselves, own their bodies, and express their love. We put together this playlist in an attempt to capture the effects of the LGBTQ+ movement’s origins on today’s society.
